my dads dad was born here. Araluen in southern NSW. around the turn of century my great grandmother Kate owned all the pubs there. well, they were tents back then. i think thats where i get my boozing skills from. thanks Katie. theres nothing there now, not much, they’ve all gone including my dad, but this spot will always be a little bit like home. i went there with my dad a year or two ago, he spoke to some old people down there, and they remembered stories of our family. we owned the pubs remember, we went to war, pops brother is on the tiny war memorial there, we made lasting impressions it seems. my dad was pretty proud. walked around like a pigeon lookin for a root he did.
